The secret of these papers is to figure out what you are doing with it and buy accordingly. Please also feel free to call, I'll help but a brief explanation of the difference is also below. Please read on.
THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF SEED PAPER THAT WE OFFER:
1. PRINTABLE PLANTABLE SEED PAPER THAT CAN BE USED IN AN INKJET PRINTER OR OTHER PRINTERS THAT DO NOT USE HEAT. If you are printing at home I recommend a printer that feeds from the top such as an Epson does. My HP does not like to bring the paper all the way through. Printable paper has it's own category, do not confuse it with Seed Paper FULL SHEETS for crafts which can not be used with a printer and are mainly used in cutting shapes and crafts.
2. PLANTABLE SEED PAPER FOR CRAFTS - FOUND IN THE CATEGORIES LISTED ABOVE. Browse through to see the variety and the colors!! SYM, BL and GRN (part numbers for me) are all great papers! This paper is so versatile and comes in different weights and colors. Not for use with the home printer though, so don't get confused. Below I will describe some of the differences I see. Swatches are available for free.
3. HOW TO PICK THE PAPER COLOR FOR YOUR SHAPE: Browse the categories above and write down the name of the paper you like for your shape favors. The shapes can be cut in any of these colors even if it is not mentioned on the specific favor you are looking at.
Differences between the different papers: The SYM Brilliant line is the newest and is offered in Wildflowers and comes in 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. It is smoother, more of a solid color as seeds are not so visible and is more pliable. We love to use these for invitations especially and people feel this paper mails well. The SYM THICKER PAPER is the weight of a dress box basically and is heavy if that is what you need. Beautiful paper in many different seed choices and comes in the 8 x 10 size. The BL Paper has more texture and I love the seeds being so visible, it adds interest but is stiffer and a little harder to fold. A great paper we've been using it for years and many of their selections are now being made with other seed choices. The GRN Paper line is also very stiff and we love to cut our shapes out of this as well and features white papers with flecks of colors in the paper and comes in wildflowers. This is especially nice when you need a hint of color as you plan to accent with other things.
4. DEFINITION OF A PLANTABLE SHAPE: A plantable shape is made from biodegradable, eco-friendly paper that is embedded with seeds. The paper is cut either by the manufacturer or Tender Seed Company into many fun and unique shapes to help make a favor or seed gift that fits your occasion. I have 2-3 suppliers of the paper so be sure to see the medium weight and the heavy weight selections. Seeds can NOT be altered in these choices and seeds are listed in each description.
5. DEFINITION OF A FULLY DECORATED PLANTABLE SHAPE FAVOR : Your Plantable shape has been decorated to your specifications (I work with you on that) and put into an open topped plastic cello sleeve for a nice presentation. No Keepsake card with this one and options are there if you want a planting sticker on the back or a cellophane sleeve to slip it into. Some products come with it.
6. WHAT IS A PLANTABLE SHAPE AND KEEPSAKE CARD? We will help you design a flat card that will relay the message or poem you'd like to present to your guests. We also like to put on the card some pretty pictures (graphics, clip art, your artwork, border) for that card. The reverse of the card is planting instructions. Then we cust the shape out of the plantable paper, decorate it, slip both in an open topped cellophane sleeve. AGAIN, the idea is that your guests get to keep the card for their scrapbook and plant the seeds from the shape.
7. SHAPES ONLY DEFINITION: This is exactly what is says, shapes only. We send you the shapes and e-mail you planting instructions and you make your own favor.
8. OVERLAY & PHOTO SHAPES DEFINITION: Plantable paper sheets are behind the personalized card and attached at the top with a pretty ribbon. Planting instructions and contact info is labeled on the back. The new graphics I just got print beautifully on card stock and sometimes not on seed packets, so I have a wider range of possibilities with this favor. Photos also print well on the card stock memory cards so e-mail me your ideas.
9. RELIGIOUS OCCASION FAVORS: Fully decorated, created to help Communion Season folks find their favor choices easily.
10. MINI SHAPE FAVORS: Favors and cards are half size and half the price. Can be personalized or non-personalized so you can write your own message on them. Easy on the budget. Any product I can dream up that is small in stature and in price.
11. WHAT IS PRINTED ON THE BACK OF MY CARD OR SEED PACKET? Planting instructions either printed right on the invitation or on a label. Depends on the product.
12. HOW DO I PLANT THIS SEED PAPER? The trick to all, all seed papers and tapes are to keep the paper moist (not dredged with water or sitting in water or else the seed will rot). Keep moist during sprouting period and then after the seed is up, water regularly. Think of it as a chicken and an egg. That little seed is a living creature and when his shell gets soaked up with water the embryo of the seed says oh, dirt, I'm warm, got water, ok here we go! God made them that way, they have dna to do that I tell my grandson. But if you forget to keep it moist for a long time, that paper shell encases it again and how can he get out now? You see what I mean? Hope that helps.
